It’s always fun to take a look at what’s trending in the new year. But before we do, I just want to note that I truly believe your home should be a reflection of the things you love and cherish and reflect your own personal style. As much as it is fun to see what is forecasted to be the latest trends, it is just as important to stay true to what brings you joy and gives meaning to your surroundings. Some trends are fun and if you want to incorporate them in a small fun way, have at it! But there is no need to redecorate your entire home!
Home Libraries – I’m starting with my favorite trend – home libraries! Who wouldn’t want a home library or a small corner carved out just for reading! I think the pandemic has influenced many home trends we will be seeing, and the home library is certainly one of them. The need to be surrounded at home with the books we cherish and a private cozy spot for reading is high on my list. I think the overall trends are a throwback to simpler times and slowing down. Which leads me to the next ongoing trend which is cottage core aesthetic.

Cottage Core – The “cottage core aesthetic” term also called “grandmillienial” has been trending for a few years now and it’s not going away anytime soon. It’s the idea of wallpaper, floral prints, antique decor, old paintings, anything cozy and lived in that your grandmother would have. I love this trend and have been mixing in thrifted and heirlooms from our family with the modern pieces I have and love. To me it gives the room character and tells a story. I think this will still be going strong in 2022 and forward but leaning more traditional timeless style.

Curved Furniture – We will be seeing more curved sofas, chairs, tables and home decor as this 70s vibe is coming back in style. Curves add a playfulness and soften spaces. People are looking to use curves beyond furniture such as curved kitchen islands, pool decks and archways.

Checkered Print – Checkered print on rugs, blankets, floor tile, and home decor is trending for 2022. Studio McGee’s Spring line has checkered boxes in small and large that can be stacked on book shelves or consoles. Checks are an east way to add a little fun in your home decor.

Barkitechture – Designing homes with special features for your pets seems to be at the forefront in 2022. Luxury cat and dog rooms have been a top search on Pinterest, signaling more people want to pamper their pets at home.
