So happy to reveal the finished builtin for our primary bedroom! We started our bedroom renovation last winter, and this fall we decided to add a builtin with a Samsung Frame TV and an electric fireplace. You can read the step by step process on how we constructed it here. I wanted to do a final reveal to show a close look at the details as well as how it fits in the overall space. It took a bit because we did three coats of paint (Benjamin Moore Paper Mache) and really allowed 2-3 full weeks to let it cure (we did the coats a little too thick, hence the long dry time).
Before I get into the detail shots, I wanted to show some before’s and progress photos.
We painted the walls Sherwin Williams Greek Villa and added in picture moulding and new carpet.
Our bedroom is small, so we really wanted to keep the builtin slim so it didn’t protrude out into the room too much. We kept the mantle tiny at only 4.5″ deep.
Base moulding was 6″ high and we did a 3″ trim surrounding the fireplace and up the sides of the TV.
We have 4′ between the end of our bed and the wall so we kept the depth of the entire unit to 5.5″.
We added a nice wide crown on top to balance the 6″ base on the bottom.
We are so happy to have it complete just in time for the cold winters in the northeast. It makes the room so cozy and warm.
